Jennifer Garner is keeping it real at 53—and so is her daughter Violet Affleck. In a refreshing blend of honesty and poise, the 13 Going on 30 star recently got candid about her views on Botox, aging, and beauty standards—and her daughter is making headlines of her own with powerful advocacy.
In a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Garner revealed that while she has tried Botox, it didn’t quite work for her. “I like to be able to move my forehead,” she said. “That’s why I wear bangs!” She even joked about having a “five-head,” proving she doesn’t take herself too seriously. While she’s discussed plastic surgery with doctors, she hasn’t gone down that road—yet. “I haven’t needed it,” she said, “but who knows what the conversation will be in 10 years.”
Her advice to young women, especially her children Violet and Fin, born Seraphina? Don’t rush into injectables. “Be cautious. Look in the mirror less. Wait as long as you possibly can,” she urged. For Garner, growing older is something to celebrate. “I don’t want to be younger. I want to live to be 100,” she said. “I feel like I’m living in my power, in my joy.”
Violet Affleck’s powerful plea on long COVID & mask mandates stuns LA officials
That same no-nonsense energy runs in the family. Violet, 19, is already making waves with her thoughtful reflections on climate change and public health. In a recent essay for Yale’s Global Health Review, she recounted escaping the California wildfires with her mom—and called out the generational divide in climate awareness. “My mom was astonished,” she wrote. “But I wasn’t surprised. I just wondered when it would happen.”
Violet also previously delivered a passionate speech to LA County officials about long COVID, mask mandates, and public safety—proving she’s not afraid to speak up for what she believes in.
Between Jennifer’s honest beauty philosophy and Violet’s bold activism, this mother-daughter duo is showing the world how to age—and lead—with grace, brains, and a whole lot of backbone.
